Julian Villalvazo

College and Career Success Specialist

Julian was born in Riverside, CA but has called San Diego his home since the age of 10. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Education from UC Santa Barbara, he returned home to follow his passion for working in education. He has dedicated himself to helping students realize their potential, both academic and personal. In college, Julian was in charge of a mentorship/tutoring program and helped establish a yearly college field trip to Northern California universities for students at a local high school. Before working at BLCI, Julian was a substitute teacher and coached Quiz Bowl, including two trips to national tournaments. Being first-generation Mexican American and the first in his family to attend and graduate from a four-year university, he is excited to get the opportunity to help the younger generations at BLCI do the same.

“Every child deserves a champion: an adult that will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they can possibly be.” – Rita Pierson
