Volunteering at a Barrio Logan College Institute is a great way to help teach young people valuable life lessons, guide in their quest for higher education and learn something about yourself in return.
Working with youth today means a brighter future for everyone.
When you volunteer at a Barrio Logan College Institute, you can make a difference in the lives of youth and give back to your community. Within the first few minutes of meeting our students and staff, you know you’re in a special place. Filled with the desire to learn and energy of young people wanting a better future and friendly, caring professionals, BLCI is a positive and hopeful environment. Whether you help with homework, share your experience, or teach about a subject, you’ll have the opportunity to build healthy relationships with young people eager for adult guidance, and have a positive impact on their lives. In turn, you will find that spending time with these young people has a positive impact on you as well.
Academic Tutors: Volunteer tutors ensure that students understand their schoolwork and improve their GPAs. BLCI is seeking tutors for grades 3-12 in Math, English, Science and other subjects. Our tutoring hours are Monday – Thursday from 3:00PM – 7:00PM.

Development Volunteers: Volunteers support the development team in researching funding opportunities, developing weekly thank you letters to donors, administering large mailers, and special event planning.
Career Fair Presenters: BLCI’s annual Career Fair is designed to help students gain a better understanding of the educational pathway required to pursue their dream careers, practice communication skills with potential employers and learn more about transferable skills they will need in the future. Volunteer presenters are invited to share their professional experiences with
students and answer questions.
