Upward Bound

BLCI serves 60 high school students at King Chavez Community High School through the Upward Bound program. The program began in 2017 and is 100% funded through the TRIO programs with the US Department of Education.  

BLCI staff at King Chavez Community High School provide tutoring and workshops at the school campus throughout the academic yearStudents participate in a robust summer component that includes college level courses, cultural enrichment and campus visits. Students must be first generation to college and/or low income to enroll. More than two thirds of the students served meet both criteria.
