Barrio Logan College Institute (BLCI) is a model organization for the positive development of youth, with a primary focus on Academic Success. We are breaking the cycle of poverty by preparing students who participate in our After School programs, from underserved situations, to be the first to go to College. Since 1996, Barrio Logan College Institute has developed a model that has proven effective, now boasting a 100% High School Graduation rate, and even more impressive, is our 100% College enrollment rate.
Parents of all backgrounds want a better future for their children. Low educational attainment is associated with poverty, crime, low civic engagement and poor health outcomes. Our After School programs have proven effective in supporting youth in achieving their goals of attending College.
Most of the youth we serve, come from underserved circumstances, and are generally the first in their family with an opportunity to go to College. Over 90% of the students that participate in our after-school programs come from family with low educational attainment and high poverty rates.
Low levels of education are associated with crime, low civic engagement and poor health outcomes. For these families, education is the answer, yet higher education is often not attainable due to lack of resources in schools and other challenges the families we serve, face.

We treat each person with dignity regardless of difference of opinions or backgrounds, and we guide our participants to do the same. We work with partners and supporters who respect the families we serve.
We believe all students have the right to go to College. Education provides individuals with the knowledge, opportunities, and skills to become full and active participants in society. We guide, inspire, and empower the students we serve and their families to become agents of change and advocates for others.
We focus on possibilities, not limitations. Our After School programs are designed to encourage our participants to create their own future.
